RSE and Health Education

At Charlton CE Primary School, we provide a carefully planned programme of Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education as part of our wider PSHE curriculum. We use the Jigsaw scheme to support the delivery of age-appropriate, inclusive and carefully sequenced learning, helping pupils to develop healthy relationships, understand how to keep themselves safe, and develop positive physical and mental health and wellbeing. Relationships Education and Health Education are statutory elements of the primary curriculum, while any additional sex education is taught sensitively and appropriately for pupils’ age and maturity. Our teaching reflects the Department for Education’s statutory RSHE guidance, effective from September 2026, and our school’s Christian ethos. Parents are encouraged to read our RSE policy and curriculum information and to contact the school if they have any questions about what their child will learn.
