PSHE

Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education

Our Vision

At Charlton, we love, support and celebrate our whole school community. Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) has an important part to play in this. In our PSHE lessons, our children learn about their own unique identities, how they can relate well to others, and ways in which they can contribute positively in their communities and the wider world. Our PSHE curriculum explores six key areas that are built upon each year from reception to year 6 as our children grow:

  • Being Me In My World
  • Celebrating Difference
  • Dreams and Goals
  • Healthy Me
  • Relationships
  • Changing Me

PSHE at Charlton is tailored to reflect the needs of our pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills they need to make safe and informed decisions. As a school, we have chosen to use the Jigsaw scheme of learning to support teaching and learning in PSHE.

Jigsaw, the mindful approach to PSHE, brings together Personal, Social, Health Education, emotional literacy, social skills and spiritual development in a comprehensive scheme of learning. The Jigsaw philosophy is about valuing and respecting every individual for who they are, and empowering them to be happy, healthy and compassionate human beings, international citizens with agency.
